Combat Training??!!!

Hey fellas! We are so amped up about our Combat Training BWBB This will be on November 9th, from 2-5pm. We are changing to Saturday this time because true combat training needs to be in the daylight for best results for the trainees. We will have an obstacle course, which will be very dirty and we would advise old clothes and somewhat loose fitting, as you will be facing enemy attack (with paintballs). If you have paint ball gear - like mask or clothing, you may bring it but label it so it is not left. You may also bring paintball guns and co2 tanks (also labelled) for use by the trainers (there will probably not be a chance for the trainees - the boys - to battle each other) Eli's dad, Ty Vanderkolk, is joining our team (he is a fantastic Godly man and we are thrilled to welcome him to the group!), and will be helping with the building of the course! Looking forward to an awesome time!

July 19th!!

Hey fellas (and parents)

Wanted to remind all of you that we will be getting together on the 19th of July - 7-10 PM, for BWBB - at this point, unless the weather changes from what we usually expect this time of year, plan to come wearing things that can get VERY WET.  The plan is to have a massive water war - so feel free to bring your own squirt guns and water weapons of any kind, but please label them because otherwise we will never find the rightful owners!!!

We will be talking about Luke 12:34 - "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" and we may be watching some clips from the Blind Side.

Plan to join us for a fantastic time.

Oh Yeah!  Bring a couple towels too!

see you soon

Snakes Rock!

So, who would have thought that something that spends its entire life crawling around on the ground could be so amazing?

Well, snakes are amazing!

John Lillie came with an awesome show and 3 (count 'em, 3) snakes to BWBB last Friday night!

We learned tons about venom, bites, strangulation and bone crushing.  Plus we got to hold snakes (those of us who wanted to).  And, no one was bitten, that i know of.

It was an awesome time!

As always we had great food and lots of loud, rowdy play.

At the end, we were reminded of Jesus' words from Matthew Ch 7 - don't judge, otherwise you will be judged too.  We were reminded about how many people think that snakes are just freaky and scary and even evil, but we saw snakes that were timid and gentle and really fun.  People are much the same.  We so often encounter people that we are tempted to judge because they are different than us, but when we open our minds to God's love for them, we realize that He loves them as much as He loves us, and we had better be keeping a grace-filled attitude toward all people.  Check out the song, "If we are the body" by Casting Crowns.

We are already excited about July 19th - our next BWBB!  Can't wait to see you all again and hear about how your summer vaca's are going!

Seriously, Ultimate Frisbee...in the winter?

Well, yes, that's what we did - and it was AWESOME!!

4 teams, 20+ guys - all different sizes - all having a blast!

It was a great night Friday and if you missed it, you totally missed out!

We also spent some time talking about what is means to be a guy:

we watched some clips fromthe movie, "The Blind Side" and then talked about what God expects from us as His men as we try to be strong when we should and gentle when we should.

We decided there were some things that we needed to "pony up" for and be strongs, like standing up for what we believe in and like defending those who are weak against those who are strong.

We also decided that there are lots of times we need to be gentle, we have nothing we need to prove - God is our strength and most of the time it is best to rest in the Truth of that rather than trying to prove something by being strong.

We will be hanging out again soon so watch your email and the blog!

Looking forward to next time!
